The installation at the atelier of Willi Dreesen who died in 2013.
People can see his drwaings from the window outside and also can feel the light or sound of outside through his drwaings inside of the atelier.
The Renaissance theorist Leon Battista Alberti regarded painting as "open window (finestra aperta)" in his book "De pictura"(1435).
This installation shows the elements beyond representation or perspective of painting with the real "open window".

curation: utsusemi & utakata | 2012 | Artists=Ryosuke Imamura, Yui Usui, Makoto Ofune, Jun Koshino, Yohei Kondo, Shuko Terada, Minoru Morikawa, Taizo Mori | Venue=Jokaiso and Art Lab Aichi (Aichi, JAPAN) | Cooporation=Jokaiso Maintenance and Reproduction Committee & ArtLab Aichi | Support=Shiseido & Nomura Foundation | Photo=Yohei Sasakura

This exhibition was held in Jokaiso built about 80 years ago in Komaki Aichi prefecture JAPAN.
The title 'utsusemi' means human living in this present and empty shell of cicada in Japanese and it expresses ephemerality.
This exhibition includes eight artists living in this present and their works are just like empty shells, in the sense that they are modest and inexpressive, and are blended of the space surrounding them, functioning as a kind of catalyst.
It is more about what the artworks give the viewers access to, than what the artworks actually are.
The artworks have become, so to speak, empty shells without entity.
Furthermore, various synergistic effects were seen because the venue has long unoccupied, or has become utsusemi itself.
Visitors could notice of every beautiful detail of this house and its rich history when they wandered all over the place, looking at the artworks scattered around.
Another exhibition 'utakata' (means babble) was held at ArtLab Aich located in Nagoya at the same time.
Talk event with Fuminori Akiba who is a researcher of aesthetics was held as well and the contents are recorded in the catalogue of this exhibition in the end.
